Maintenance Fabricator/Millwright

Position & Reporting Overview:

The experienced structural/weldment fit up welder position works closely with our maintenance and operation teams to dismantle, relocate, layout, assemble, fabricate, and install large, heavy, complex structural assemblies, components and weldments to very close tolerances and exacting specifications requiring a broad knowledge of fitting, fabricating and welding procedures. This position will report to our Maintenance Superintendent and work closely with our Shift Maintenance Supervisors.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Operate welding equipment, cutting torches, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, hand tools, etc. to grind, file, and adjust machine parts to dimensional specifications
  • Position works from drawings, blueprints, bills of materials and specifications for layout and plan work to fabricate complete assemblies
  • Prepare foundations for installation of machines and equipment and construct additional supports, and reinforcements, if needed
  • Assemble, fit, level and align machines and equipment and bolt, weld, rivet, and fasten to foundation and/or other structures
  • Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and bracing fixtures to involve dismantling, inspection, machining or replacement of purchased parts
  • Operate various complex welding, soldering or brazing equipment
  • Operate hoists, cranes, riggings, material handling equipment/trucks to transport and position equipment
  • Use various precise measuring tools to gauge and check work and adjust, as necessary
  • Ensure machinery & equipment is lubricated and fully functional
  • Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and adhere to all safety procedures and requirements
  • Strive to maintain a safe work environment and injury free workplace

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Work is performed under minimal supervision and subject to rigid quality requirements and specifications
  • In-depth experience working with metal fabrication and welding skills, including wire feed, Mig, and Tig variations
  • Extensive experience with machinery assembly and installation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems
  • Good reading and math skills with the ability to solve math problems, deal with fractions, and read measuring devices
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and work as a team member in a flexible team environment. Team player
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated high integrity and work ethic. Dependable and punctual
  • Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities
  • Good organizational skills along with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures
  • Some knowledge and proficiency working with Outlook and Word
  • Proven ability to follow safety rules and regulations

Experience:

  • Significant experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience working and contributing in a lead role on a team

Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with trade and industrial shop classes
  • Interest & drive to grow, and develop additional skills in industrial maintenance

Other Information:

  • Willingness to work rotating day shift work, including overtime, every other Saturday, and occasional coverage of opposite shift vacations
  • Flexibility to handle schedule adjustments to cover plant operating hours and projects
  • Work Hours: 10-Hour Day Shifts Monday thru Saturday (6 AM to 4 PM)
  • Candidates must be willing to complete a pre-placement fitness for duty occupational health physical and drug screen
